Ambassador R. M. Chitiga is the Permanent Secretary for Skills Audit and Development. She is a seasoned diplomat who has represented our great nation abroad and served as an Ambassador of Zimbabwe to France, Spain, Portugal and the Vatican.
She also served as the Permanent Representative and member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
She is currently a member of the Governing Board of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
Apart from her distinguished and illustrious diplomatic career, Ambassador R. M. Chitiga has also held senior management positions in Government and Civil Society.
She has previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) and in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development where she diligently executed her official duties.
She is a policy, gender, and development expert with experience which spans over 30 years in strategy and program development as well as management in the fields of adult education and gender mainstreaming in developmental issues.
Furthermore, she has regional experience in adult education, institutional capacity development, women peace and security.
Over the years, she has developed invaluable programmes to strengthen capacities and voices of women’s rights organizations and civil society in post-conflict programmes and policy development.
Ambassador R. M. Chitiga is a distinguished scholar who holds a Masters Degree in Policy Studies, a Post Graduate Qualification in Adult Education, and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.
