African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI), His Excellency, Professor Gaspard Banyankimbona, accompanied by his delegation, has paid a courtesy meeting to the Ministry of Skills Audit and Development as part of preparations for the upcoming Africa Skills Week.
During the meeting with Honourable Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere and departmental heads, the Professor commended the Ministry’s role in national development, emphasising that skills development is key to empowering people and strengthening economic growth. He further noted that Zimbabwe has much to offer to the continent, highlighting the country’s potential to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s broader development agenda through skills audits and capacity building.
Honourable Muswere acknowledged the support Zimbabwe is receiving from the African Union Commission for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation towards successfully hosting the Africa Skills Week. He also explained the Ministry of Skills Audit and Development’s mandate in relation to human capital development and underscored the value His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa places on skills development in Zimbabwe, as evidenced by the establishment of a stand-alone, fully-fledged ministry for that role.
